What a week it’s been. With warm water everywhere and challenging wind conditions, we were still able to put solid catches together for our guests. Lake Trout was the name of the game this week. Special tackle and very slow speeds are required to catch these fish. Luckily, we are well equipped with plenty of the tackle required and our Tiara Yacht named Traveler is capable of effectively fishing at the speeds required. It was great to see children included in several of our groups this past week. There is absolutely nothing better than seeing the smiles on the faces of youngsters as the do battle with these fish that are sometimes bigger than them!

For anyone reading this that fishes Lake Michigan, standard Luhr Jensen dodgers with spin n glows did the trick on both downriggers and deep dipsy divers. Color didn’t really seem to matter as we took fish on greens, whites and oranges. 100-130 feet of water was best with short bite windows in the morning and afternoons. The full moon pushed those bite windows a little later than normal.

Best of luck!
Captain Tim
