What a great week! We had some great catches this week and some really fun groups. King salmon made up the bulk of our catches with both young kings and mature kings willing and able to participate in the fun. The mature kings fight like no other fresh water fish. These powerful fish are known for their reel screaming runs. We had one king run out over 1000ft of line!
During a lull in the action we had a gentleman ask why we werent changing baits since the fish werent biting. I thought that was an interesting question and one that I bet other customers have had and not asked. The answer is fairly simple. We have enough combined experience that we know full well the baits that work. However, the baits are nowhere near as important as the angle of troll or the speed of troll. When the bite slows, rest assured we are changing both the angle and the speed to get the fish to fire up again. Lake Michigan is full of underwater currents that don’t just change by the day but by the hour. We have enough experience to recognize these changes quickly based on how our lines are running. When this happens, we will change our speed and angles to compensate.
Tight Lines!
